2025 Alumni & Friends Travel Plans

Our 2025 Alumni and Friends group trip is Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. It is set for June 24-July 7, 2025. The 14-day trip begins in Frankfurt, Germany and includes stops in the Swiss Alps, Black Forest, Austrian Alps, castles, abbeys, and more! The trip ends in Vienna, Austria.

Germany, Switzerland, and Austria share a language, but their appeals are varied. Discover delightfully distinct style and substance in each destination on this guided trip, from the Gothic spires of Heidelberg to the Art Nouveau elegance of Vienna. Swiss mountains and the Bavarian forest, German beer and Austrian wine—this trio of countries has something for everyone to enjoy on tour. The additional 3-day optional extension for this trip is to Budapest, Hungary.

The base cost of the trip is approximately $6,500 per person for double occupancy (additional cost for single occupancy). This price includes airfare from Birmingham (Go Ahead can book your flight from a different airport or you can book your own airfare), 12 nights in handpicked hotels,12 breakfasts, 6 dinners with beer or wine, 8 sightseeing tours, expert tour director, and transportation by private deluxe motor coach. The itinerary for the trip includes:

Day 1: Overnight flight to Frankfurt, Germany.

Day 2: Arrive in Frankfurt, transfer to Heidelberg region, and meet tour director.

Day 3: Sightseeing tour of Heidelberg and free afternoon or add an excursion (Castle & Gardens of Schwetzingen).

Day 4: Travel to the Swiss Alps via Rhine Falls & the Black Forest.

Day 5: Sightseeing tour of Lucerne, Switzerland and a free afternoon or add an excursion (Mount Pilatus).

Day 6: Travel to the Austrian Alps via Liechtenstein & Innsbruck. Tour of Innsbruck.

Day 7: Travel to Munich via Hohenschwangau Castle.

Day 8: Sightseeing tour of Munich and free afternoon or add an excursion (Dachau).

Day 9: Transfer to Salzburg & sightseeing tour of Salzburg.

Day 10: Free day in Salzburg or add an excursion (Mozart Concert & Dinner and/or Eagle's Nest & Salt Mines).

Day 11: Travel to Vienna via Melk Abbey

Day 12: Sightseeing tour of Vienna and free evening.

Day 13: Free day in Vienna or add an excursion (Danube River Cruise & Bratislava).

Day 14: Departure for home.

If you choose to continue on the optional extension to Budapest…

Day 14: Transfer to Budapest & sightseeing tour.

Day 15: Free day in Budapest or add an excursion (Budapest: A Walk Behind the Iron Curtain).
